Power Factor Study
A power factor analysis will look at the efficiency of power usage and determine how best to correct it. Many facilities operate at a much lower power factor than is possible and end up paying considerable extra costs for it.
A power factor is the difference between the power being consumed and the apparent power being consumed by a system. Each piece of equipment has its own power factor associated with it; a high power factor (>.95) indicates efficiency while a low power factor is associated with increased load. Common culprits are HVAC systems and light induction motors such as saws and compressors. Uncorrected power factors can accumulate high costs and place unnecessary stress on a system.
